Hector Jose Rodriguez

Area Director of Banquets |
Loews Hotels & Co

For over a decade, Hector Jose Rodriguez has built an accomplished career in the hospitality field. Since 2014, he has excelled at Loews Hotels & Co., serving as the complex and area director of banquets. In this capacity, he manages the day-to-day operations of four, soon to be five, hotels at Universal Orlando for the company, takes care of professionals he meets, and oversees any and all events.

In addition to this role, Mr. Rodriguez began running Betsy’s Pride LLC in 2025. Named in honor of his mother, a major mentor throughout his upbringing, the community-focused business aims to work with young individuals across various industries who’ve persevered through difficult circumstances and seek alternative opportunities for success outside of traditional college paths, including technical trades like welding and plumbing. They will be taught what he considers the “five human truths”—that everyone wants to be understood, reach their potential, be guided along the way, have a sense of belonging, and feel special. The end-goal of the LLC is to uplift his mother and help her retire, as she is still working seven days a week while also taking care of his youngest son, who’s on the autism spectrum.

Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, he saw firsthand how much his mother sacrificed, driving three hours each day to ensure he could attend school, working long hours in the restaurant industry, all while being a survivor of domestic violence. He also witnessed his mother losing her job, a traumatic event she ultimately overcame to become a successful business owner.

After attending school on the city’s East Side, where he was introduced to jazz and art through various programs, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He went on to complete coursework in criminal justice and corrections from Tiffin University and graduate from the Law Enforcement Academy at Seminole State College in 1997; during this time, he dreamed of changing the world in this field but soon realized he would encounter racism, politics, and the stresses that come along with them. He ultimately shifted gears and built his career on what he loves, which is hospitality. The proud father of three sons looks forward to continuing to help the next generation find success.
